PROBLEM
In the present time, people are so engrossed in their work which impacts their health, resulting in stress. To fight stress people attend various kinds of events and workshops to create a diversion in their life and add a skill to their skill sets. Corporate companies, in fact, hire instructors to help their employees enjoy their work environments. But there is still a huge gap between the learners and instructors. This is where Bloom & Grow acts as a mediator. At Present, B&G advertise about their events through facebook mainly and sometimes through their website and a third party- Events High. B&G hasn't been successful to reach many people due to lack of information about the event and lack of trust of the user. The are many people who reach the B&G website but still aren't able to find the right event of their choice.
69%
Around 69% of people are suffering from stress which has a negative impact on their mental and physical health.
Around 45% of workshops are empty because there isn't proper advertising don't of the event or the candidate doesn't receive the entire information and hence, chooses not to attend the workshop.
45%
KEY GOAL
To create an application that serves as an Event Information System.
TITLE OF THE CALLOUT BLOCK
SOLUTION
At present, there aren’t any apps made for workshops. Workshops are attended by a huge number of the population but still, there hasn’t been any made for it. Bloom & Grow is a creative centre, a co-working space for artists, creators, hobbyists and learners to come together to learn, share and grow. Through this app the users not only will get a lot of information about the upcoming workshops, but they will keep getting notifications for their registered events. The users can also buy products through the application.
CHALLENGES
The main challenge during the first phase of the redesign was meeting the Bloom & Grow existing theme. The information to be delivered to the user was extremely vast hence was a big challenge for me to deliver this information to the users in a simple form as possible. There was an issue while conducting user interviews also because I had to understand the two aspects of users- the instructors and the learners. It was a crucial task to design which is user-friendly for both categories of users.
BREAKING DOWN THE PROCESS
The design process started with the research phase which further had activities such as brainstorming, contextual inquiry for studying user behaviour, from which gathered the needs of our system. I extracted requirements from contextual data. The requirements included interaction design requirements, inputs driving the design process to determine the features, look, feel and behaviour of the interaction design.

USER PERSONAS
During the initial discovery phase, I took a few 1-1 interview sessions with various people who attend the workshop and the artist/instructor who conduct the workshops. I interviewed people of age groups between 21-50 years, with diverse backgrounds to understand their approach while boarding a bus.
My goal was to understand the process the participants follow to discover an event and how do they decide which event they want to attend.

"I'm a home-maker. I had learned the technique of Decoupage at Chennai and after a few months of practice, I later started teaching Decoupage to various people. I have always been very fond of craft and conducting workshops helps me explore my skills and also mingle with different kinds of individuals. I have been conducting workshops with B&G from past one year"

GOALS
-
To support her husband financially
-
To continue with my passion and explore her creativity
FRUSTRATIONS
-
Not able to reach many people, most of the time only 4 people attend workshops where the availability is of 10 individuals.
-
The people who have attended her workshop, keep contacting her regarding the details of the materials which were used at the workshop.

"I'm a Data Analyst working at Flipkart. I work from Monday to Friday. During weekends I generally prefer socialising with friends and family. I look for nearby events and workshops, so that kill some time and return to my work on Monday with a fresh mind. I am a foodie and love to bake. I have attended two workshops at B&G. The last one was a bad experience, I had enrolled for a baking workshop, but after attending the workshop I realised I didn't learn anything new."
GOALS
-
To enjoy and have fun during weekends
-
To explore her passion and hobbies.
FRUSTRATIONS
-
Having a work-life is extremely stressful for her.
-
She isn't able to find fun events.

USER FLOW
Information Architecture was build based on the user flow obtained by interviews and observational methods.

WIREFRAMES
During the initial stage, I sketched out some ideas using pen and paper before moving into our lo-fidelity wireframes. Once I had more of an idea as to what the users wanted, I moved onto to design the lo-fidelity wireframes to determine information architecture, key features and functionalities.

After designing the lo-fidelity wireframes, I performed an evaluation of the designs. During this phase, I made several improvements, including:
-
Updating content on each page to ensure language is consistent throughout each page of the site.
-
Making sure content is reduced when the screen size is below tablet size.
-
Adding the “Instructor” section on each event description page.
-
Showing only the top events on the homepage, top 10 events.
Once I fixed the issues from the lo-fidelity wireframes, I moved to
hi-fidelity wireframes.

USER TESTING
The purpose of this test plan was to observe the behaviours of a subsection of representative users while performing tasks. I created mid-fidelity prototypes in marvel and created tasks to be observed.
USER TESTING TASKS:
Task 1: Search for upcoming workshops and its details.
Task 2: Discover and explore the teacher.
LEARNINGS
1. Focus on human values
Empathy for the people you are designing for and the feedback from these users is the fundamental of good design.
2. Be a problem solver
Design is not about just making things beautiful or eye-pleasing, Design is about solving problems in a simplistic manner.
3. Impact in essential
What we create should impact the life of the user, it has to be functional and actually solve a problem.
