Tracking your bus has become easier now. This app helps the passengers to keep track of the buses. Through the app, the passengers get complete information about the buses.
OVERVIEW
This is an application created as a platform for passenger information for buses, which stays with the user at all stages of travel. The unexpected delay in the arrival of buses, lack of real-time information about buses and unavailability of passenger information at different stages of travel to the conceptualizing of this app. Centred around providing immediate information about bus arrivals and delays and helping the user to make timely decisions, this app attempts to make travelling by buses convenient and hassle-free.

My role as a UI/UX designer was to conducted extensive user research, UX flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes and assess what needed to be removed or updated, prior to the kick-off. Then, I worked extensively on user research and user flows in order to cater the site to its primary users. As a developer, I wrote a clean code that followed W3C standards to make it easy for future developers to maintain. Interviewed and observed various users for an ott content recommendation app
PROBLEM
Nowadays in this fast life where everyone is in a hurry to reach their destinations, waiting for a bus is really hectic and time-consuming. Many of us are unaware of the bus timings. There are buses made available for passengers travelling distances, but not many passengers have complete information about these buses. Complete information namely the number of buses that go to the required destination, bus numbers, bus timings, the routes through which the bus would pass, time taken for the bus to reach, maps that would guide the passenger with his/her route and most importantly, track the current location of the bus and give the correct time for the bus to reach its bus stop.

Out of 84 lakh population of Bengaluru, 50 lakh people use BMTC every day, which is approximately more than half the population.
Out of 50 lakh passengers, 12 lakh people miss their buses or face difficulty in understanding the bus routes.

KEY GOAL
To create an app to solve the problem of tracking local buses.
TITLE OF THE CALLOUT BLOCK
SOLUTION
1. Design Process: The primary solution was to come up with a design system that was guided by principles and best practices. Also, to keep with documented at each step to ensure consistency and efficiency of work.
2. Personalization: To solve the problem of complexity it was important to eliminate any unnecessary elements. To achieve that the platform was made persona specific.
Easy Travel gives complete information to the user. Easy Travel is an application created as a platform for passenger information for buses, which helps the user to locate the buses from anywhere at any point. The application is very user-friendly and helps the passenger to save time. This application provides lots of features which is required for travelling. EasyTravel is very convenient for tourists too.
BREAKING DOWN THE PROCESS
The design process started with the research phase which further had activities such as brainstorming, contextual inquiry for studying user behaviour, from which gathered the needs of our system. I extracted requirements from contextual data. The requirements included interaction design requirements, inputs driving the design process to determine the features, look, feel and behaviour of the interaction design.

CHALLENGES
1. Creating a user-friendly design
The app is to be designed in such a way that it is user-friendly for both the working class audience and also the local audience.

2. More control over their time.
Creating the design simple and quick for the users to track the bus.
USER PERSONAS
During the initial discovery phase, I took a few 1-1 interview sessions with various bus travellers. I interviewed people of age groups between 16-59 years, with diverse backgrounds to understand their approach while boarding a bus.
My goal was to understand the challenges they faced and the workarounds they employed.

“I’m a student at Mount Carmel College studying for my BCOM. I commute through a bus on a daily basis as my parents are against me riding a two-wheeler. Most of the time I miss my bus because of 5-10 min time difference."
GOALS
-
To reach her classes on time.
-
To prepare for her CA exams.
FRUSTRATIONS
-
Not able to reach her classes on time which results in her in losing her attendance and most importantly misses her lecture too.
-
Has to wait at the bus stop sometimes for hours due to which by the time she reaches home isn't able to concentrate on her CA preparations.

"I'm a software engineer working at IBM, ITPL. Due to extreme traffic and high cab prices and generally commute by bmtc bus, to save extra money to support my family. Generally, in the mornings, I get a direct bus but for my return journey, because of less frequency of buses, I board two buses to reach my house."
GOALS
-
To reach the office on time and at a cheaper price.
-
To reach home on time, to spend quality time with his family.
FRUSTRATIONS
-
Less frequency of buses delays his time to reach home on time and causes irritation and headache by the time he reaches home
-
He has to wait for not one but two buses at night when he is leaving from office.
-
The buses which reach his stop are generally local buses and not Volvo, so is unable to read the information on bus written in the local language.
DISCOVERY
After a lot of research and interviews, I discovered that the passengers were facing a lot of issues due to no proper information available at bus stops.
1. There isn't any proper information about timings given at bus stops.
2. They non-local passengers who can't read the local language fail to understand the destination of the bus
3. The passengers at the end use ola or uber to reach the destination.
4. There is no information available about AC and Non-AC buses.
5. The tourists generally have no clue about the nearest bus stops.

INSIGHTS
After conducting countless user interviews, contextual inquiry and analyzing the gathered data, I was able to gather the following insights
Is there real-time information given about the buses?

Is it easy to locate the bus stops?

Is it easy and quick for the passengers to track buses?

USER FLOW
Information Architecture was build based on the user flow obtained by interviews and observational methods.
WIREFRAMES
A progression of key screens from low to high fidelity wireframes with annotations. These iterations were based on feedback received from user testing the low fidelity wireframes.

APP FEATURES

Language
Choose your prefered language, because language shouldn’t be a barrier.

Weather
Every time you open the app, you get the weather update. This weather pop-up can be turned off in the settings.

Dashboard
The dashboard shows the various options from which the user can select according to their preference.

Favourite
The list of user’s favourite buses can be used for faster tracking.
Tracking
Locate your bus in one - click and plan your day according.
Information
The user gets the complete details of the bus, like the bus stops, ratings, comments and timetable.
USER TESTING
The purpose of this test plan was to observe the behaviours of a subsection of representative users while performing tasks. I created mid-fidelity prototypes in marvel and created tasks to be observed.
USER TESTING TASKS:

Task 1: Search and Track your daily bus.
Task 2: Discover the schedule of your bus.
Task 3: Discover the other features of the app.
LEARNINGS
1. Don't fall in love with your ideas.
Sometimes one of the bravest decisions a designer can make during a project cycle is terminating a feature that seems so innovative on a design standpoint, but in the end, never translates to the user understanding the feature.
2. Process in essential
As this way an individual project, the time and efforts were required double in amount. But in the end, if there is a good predefined process, the planning and execution of the project became very easy.
