BREAKING DOWN THE PROCESS
To master the logo development process, you first need to consider what makes your brand stand out. Developing a logo involves first defining the brand, industry and usage. Then follow sketches, drafts, refinement and identity development to create the final logo.
LEARNINGS
1. Always sketch your ideas.
Sometimes due to short deadlines and time constraints, I used to directly go to the digital medium. Following this process, most of the time the client didn't like the initial variations designs and used to reject them. This caused not only delay in achieving the final designs but also wasted a lot of time and energy. Which made me understand the importance of sketching. While sketching we not only don't get that attached to our designs but we also explore more. As a designer when I used to create a design on digital, it used to be very difficult for me to scrap out that idea. That's where I realised the importance of sketching.
2. Black and white before colour.
The logos used by any brand are generally used on various mediums, both digital and print. So it is very important that a logo is simple enough so that it can be printed easily on any medium. Black and white logos help in finding that simplicity.
